Tens of thousands without power after storm
DAMAGE AND, JACOB GOOD MORNING, WHAT CAN YOU TELL US? GOOD MORNING, WE’RE TAKING A LOOK AT SOME DAMAGE LEFT BEHIND… A LOT OF IT CAUSED BY THE SNOW TRANSITIONING TO FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET YESTERDAY, LEAVING A THICK HEAVY COATING OF ICE OVER EVERYTHING. THERE ARE TREE’S THAT HAVE FALLEN, AND POWERLINES ARE ALSO TAKING DAMAGE. C-M-P IS REPORTING 176-THOUSAND CUSTOMERS ARE WITHOUT POWER THIS MORNING. I KNOW I WAS ONE OF THEM, I COME IN FROM O-O-B SO WAKING UP TO NO POWER WAS A RUDE AWAKENING. LAST NIGHT C-M-P WROTE ON FACEBOOK THAT THE WEATHER CONDITIONS MADE FOR DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR THEIR WORK CREWS, AND THAT THEY WOULD BEGIN WIDE- SPREAD RESTORATION EFFORTS THIS MORNING. WE’RE ON THE LOOKOUT TO SEE IF WE’LL BE ABLE TO SEE ANY OF THOSE CREWS THIS MORNING. AS FOR OTHER IMPACTS, IF YOU’RE TRYING TO BE SOMEWHERE TODAY, BE CAREFUL ON THE ROADS. WATCH OUT FOR SLIPPERY SPOTS WHICH YOU WON’T ALWAYS BE ABLE TO SEE AND GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME FOR YOUR COMMUTE BUT ALSO TO DE-ICE YOUR CAR. I KNOW I HAD TO LET MY CAR WINDSHIELD DEFROST A BIT BEFORE I WOULD EVEN BOTHER TRYING TO GET ALL OF THE ICE OFF
