Walmart launches new brand, bettergoods

(WJW) – Walmart just launched its biggest private grocery brand in two decades, company officials announced in a media release on Tuesday.

The new brand, called bettergoods, is described as “a new elevated experience that delivers quality, unique, chef-inspired food at an incredible value,” according to Walmart.

The company boasts that bettergoods items cost between less than $2 and less than $15, but most items hitting shelves under the new brand name cost less than $5.

Walmart plans to have at least 300 bettergoods products available in the upcoming months, but company officials say shoppers can already find goods in its stores and online.

Bettergoods items will be available for curbside pickup and same-day delivery, according to the media release.

The new brand is made up of a variety of products found in all grocery aisles, including frozen, dairy, beverages, snacks, soups, pasta and coffee, among others.

Items fall into three categories: “culinary experiences,” “plant-based” and “made without,” the latter of which focuses on options for different dietary lifestyles.

Walmart leaders pointed out that customers these days expect more from private brands they find in stores.

“Bettergoods is more than just a new private brand. It’s a commitment to our customers that they can enjoy unique culinary flavors at the incredible value Walmart delivers,” said Scott Morris, senior vice president of private brands, food and consumables at Walmart, in the media release.
