Moffat County football fans were looking blue Friday night at the Bulldog Proving Grounds.

But make no mistake, that was a good thing.

MCHS athletes gave spectators quite the show for the annual Homecoming game, with a 49-3 victory over the Coal Ridge Titans.

The scene was set for the Bulldogs’ biggest home game of the fall with packed stands, delivery of the game ball by Classic Air Medical helicopter by the mascot and more unique moments.

Despite getting pushed back into their own end zone to start the night, things turned around in one play as quarterback Evan Beaver launched a long pass to fellow senior Bryant Carlson, who bolted for the end zone for a touchdown reception of 95 yards, part of the 291 Beaver had for the night.

With the MoCo student section set up in front of the scoreboard, Carlson’s early score 30 seconds into the game was one of many that inspired fellow students to unleash an onslaught of blue powder.

“(Coal Ridge) had no safety out there, so I knew Evan would throw it to me,” Carlson said. “I loved the student section being out on the field. When I got that score, everyone was right there.”

The student section had plentiful opportunities in the first half alone to keep the celebrations coming as senior Caleb Squires ran in three red zone TDs, and seniors Aron Aguilar and Kenny Frederickson each caught touchdown passes.

On the other side of the ball, all the Titans could manage against the Bulldog defense was an early field goal.
