Letter: Let’s get back to work battling climate change – Opinion – Monroe News –
The U.S. just wrapped up one of the most contentious elections in its history. At stake was not only the health of the people in a pandemic, but also the fate of the climate.
In Michigan, climate change has significantly increased flooding and put many roads and businesses under water. It affects crops, communities and our great state so much. In addition to rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, the president of the United States should move quickly to reintroduce The Energy Innovation Act (HR 763), which would reduce U.S. emissions by 40 percent within the first 10 years and create 2 million jobs.
I hope our representatives Fred Upton, Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow also support it. Let’s make 2021 the year we rebuild better for people and the planet.
