Here’s how Terre Haute officials will spend $14M in ARPA funds

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A number of projects in the city of Terre Haute were approved to receive American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.

On Thursday, the City Council approved appropriations for more than $14,000,000 in ARPA funds.

Mayor Brandon Sakbun said it will go toward five projects. Those are as follows;

  • 13th and 8th Avenue overpass
  • Brown Avenue stormwater upgrade
  • A city parks upgrade
  • A downtown revitalization project
  • A city hall building upgrade

“These projects, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, will provide support to our city’s infrastructure, quality of life, government services, and uplift our community,” Sakbun said. “These are transformational projects that all will be receiving additional dollars through the private sector, state dollars, and federal grants. These funds will be matched by over $76M from other grants and the private sector brining our total investment to the community $90M. We look forward to future projects funded by ARPA funds such as the Goodwill Excel Center, providing Indiana American Water service to city residents, and addressing food deserts.”
