Quentin Flagg will return to St. Catherine’s Activity Center in Algonac on May 6 for “An Evening to Remember,” a rock ‘n’ roll show and dinner with the goal of raising funds for U.S. Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking.

“We are so excited about Quentin Flagg coming to entertain us again this year,” said Rose Rumball, chairwoman of Our Lady on the River Against Human & Sex Trafficking Ministry, which is hosting the event. “He makes the walls rock. He is awesome. Feedback on our past events with Quentin has been nothing but a reminiscing of smiles and a memorable evening.”

Rumball said she is looking forward to the music of the ‘50s and ‘60s sung by “a man who puts every ounce of energy into every note and song.”

“Many people are also looking forward to seeing him again,” she said.

The event will include a Caribbean flair meal, with salad, a fourth of chicken, a meaty rib, calypso rice, a vegetable roll, dessert and a nonalcoholic beverage catered by Adora’s Cove Café. A flyer for the event states that attendees can feel free to bring their own favorite beverages.

Additionally, there will be raffle baskets and a 50/50.

“We will have a wide variety of raffle baskets including (a) Christmas baking pans basket, a garden basket, a bridal basket, kitchen living basket, a mystery box, wooden salad bowl basket, margarita basket, gift cards and so much more,” Rumball said.

She said she hopes to see over 160 people attend.

“Since eradicating human and sex trafficking is our mission, we are extremely excited about sharing with our attendees the new app that has proven to be very successful already in tracking the victims of human trafficking,” she said. “It is called Traffic Cam. By hotel guests taking pictures of the inside of their hotel rooms across the country, law enforcement can match the rooms to where the victims were last seen or frequent. It is a piece of extraordinary technology that will become a major asset to freeing our children from modern day slavery.”

“Our benefactors are the U.S. Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking,” she continued. “They are supporting Traffic Cam and tirelessly continue to initiate numerous efforts to eradicate this terrible crime against humanity. They have held retreats this past year for both male and female survivors. They have fought against websites that lure our children into trafficking. They support — in any way they can — the survivor homes where survivors learn to reenter society and become whole again. Their efforts and successes are numerous thanks to the support of all of you.”

The doors to the event will open at 4:45 p.m., the buffet will take place from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and the show will start at 6:45 p.m. Dinner and show tickets costing $35 will be on sale until April 30. After that, just show and dessert tickets will be sold for $15 at the door.

Attendees can park at both the 1103 Washington St. and 1106 St. Clair Blvd. entrances to St. Catherine’s Activity Center.

Tickets can be purchased at Our Lady on the River Parish in Marine City, Adora’s Cove Café, the Shortstop Family Diner, or by calling Rumball at 810-512-8035.

“Hope to see you there,” Rumball said.
