RBI supersedes board of Abhyudaya Cooperative Bank Ltd for 12 months
RBI has stated that the decision was made in response to specific concerns arising from poor governance standards identified within the bank. As of now, there are no imposed restrictions on the bank’s operations, and it is permitted to function as usual under the guidance of the Administrator, according to the RBI.

India warns Facebook, YouTube to enforce rules to deter deepfakes
On Friday, the Indian government issued a caution to social media companies such as Facebook and YouTube, instructing them to regularly alert users about the local laws that prohibit the posting of deepfakes and content disseminating obscenity or misinformation, according to two sources informed Reuters. Deputy IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar delivered this warning during a closed-door meeting, noting that despite the 2022 regulations forbidding content deemed “harmful” to children, obscene, or involving impersonation, many companies had not updated their usage terms.

Dublin violence motivated by hate: Irish PM
Prime Minister Leo Varadkar expressed his disapproval on Friday, stating that the rioters who set vehicles on fire and looted shops in Dublin, following a knife attack near a school, brought “shame” upon Ireland. Varadkar condemned the severe violence, considered the worst in decades, and authorities attributed the unrest to right-wing groups. The disturbance occurred on Thursday night after three children were injured in a stabbing incident near the center of Dublin. The violence, leading to 34 arrests, initiated when a group breached a police cordon around the attack area in Parnell Square East, located in north-central Dublin.

The company formalized this transaction through a definitive agreement, transferring the business operations related to Malar Hospital at Gandhi Nagar, Adyar, Chennai, to MGM Healthcare, a well-established healthcare delivery service provider, as stated in a regulatory filing. The sale consideration for this transaction is approximately Rs 45.5 crore.

Oscar Pistorius to be freed on parole
Oscar Pistorius, the former Paralympic champion, is set to be released on parole, marking a decade since he murdered his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. In 2013, on Valentine’s Day, he shot Steenkamp multiple times through a bathroom door, asserting later that he had mistaken her for a burglar. Pistorius, now 37, received a 13-year prison sentence in 2016, and the parole board has scheduled his release for January 5, 2024.
