UCF’s Gus Malzhan sells Via Tuscany home in less than 24 hours – Orlando

UCF football coach Gus Malzahn and his wife, Kristi, didn’t have to wait long to find a buyer for their Winter Park home.

The 7,535-square-foot home on Via Tuscany hit the market Tuesday with a $5.99 million price tag and went under contract the next day.

“Yes, we are under contract!” listing agent Brandon Geers with Compass Florida told GrowthSpotter. “Between our marketing and pricing, I think we nailed [it]. We were able to create a ton of buzz from the moment we went live and secured a buyer within 24 hours.”

The Malzahns aren’t leaving the neighborhood.

“They’ve already bought a new home a couple blocks away, and they’re just they’re just downsizing,” Geers said. “This is a lot of house for them, and it’s just the two of them.”

Geers was not involved in that purchase.

The house the couple is selling has five bedrooms in the main house and an additional one in a guest suite above a garage.

“It’s one-of-a-kind. It’s refreshing to see a house that has some character and charm instead of some of these new builds where you walk in and it’s one giant room and everything’s white and no real character,” Geers said. “In this house, you can tell it was built with some meticulous craftsmanship and every detail was meticulously designed.”

Winter Brothers Construction built the house in 2009 with rare Italian Calacatta Gold marble countertops, pecky cypress beams, solid oak floors, and several wood-burning fireplaces.

“It’s not one of these [houses where] you walk in the front door you see the whole house. It’s definitely sectioned off and it definitely feels warm and inviting,” Geers explained.

The kitchen is designed both for cooking and entertaining with high-end appliances like dual Wolf ovens, dual Miele dishwashers, and a Sub-Zero refrigerator.

“[The Malzhans] loved the kitchen. It’s a true chef’s kitchen. It’s got everything you need.”

The backyard is designed for entertaining, with an outdoor kitchen is near the pool.

“[The outdoor space] is an absolute dream. It’s my favorite part about the house with the Hamptons-style pool with perfect hedges surrounding it giving you ultimate privacy,” Geers said.

The Malzahns bought the home in March 2021 for $4.175 million when he became head coach of the Knights. They haven’t changed much since then, but the list price has.

“It’s just the market. [The sellers] have maintained it meticulously, but the market, as everyone knows, has jumped.”

Geers wouldn’t say if there were any film rooms or football-specific areas of the home and said people seem interested in the home itself, not the sellers.

“It’s a gem in the heart of Via Tuscany, which I would say is the most well-known road in Winter Park. I think the house has had people being after it since it was built,” he said. “It sits on over a half-acre lot and it’s got a huge footprint. It’s a corner lot and it checks a lot of boxes for a lot of people.”

Gus Malzahn is will soon begin his fourth season at UCF, their second in the Big 12 Conference. Last season, they were 6-7. The first game is Aug. 29 against New Hampshire.
