Tucker Carlson announced in a Twitter video Tuesday that he’ll launch his show on Elon Musk’s social media site. Carlson was fired by Fox News from his prime-time slot just over two weeks ago.

Carlson, in his three-minute video, told viewers that they are being “manipulated” by the mainstream media. He said Twitter “is not a partisan site.”
The hot-button Tucker Carlson could gain eyeballs for Musk’s Twitter even as it angers many users. The move could further exacerbate Twitter’s ad revenue woes, as major advertisers seek to steer clear of polarizing content. On the other hand, a more-polarizing Twitter could spur Carlson fans to subscribe to Twitter Blue.
Elon Musk, in a Tuesday night tweet, stressed that “we have not signed a deal of any kind” with Tucker Carlson. “Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators. Rewards means subscriptions and advertising revenue share (still working on software needed for latter), which is a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising views associated with his content.”
Earlier Tuesday, Musk in a Twitter post commented on an article accusing Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms (META) of steering the 2020 election to Democrats. He later said Meta’s WhatsApp social platform can’t be trusted.
Tesla’s brand is closely tied to that of Elon Musk. If Musk’s Twitter reign hurts his image, it could affect Tesla (TSLA).
TSLA stock was little changed overnight. Shares fell 1.5% in Tuesday’s market trading, just below the 21-day line.
