Town, health officials raise funds for cancer research

Oyster Bay Town Councilman Steve Labriola was one of the riders in the event.

Town of Oyster Bay board members recently partnered with Catholic Health and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to host the Empire State Ride Long Island, a charity bike ride through the North Shore to raise funds to end cancer and fund lifesaving clinical trials for new treatment options. Councilman Labriola successfully completed the ride, cycling 8 miles and personally raising hundreds of dollars.

In total, over $100,000 was raised by more than 400 riders who participated in this fantastic event. Longtime News 12 Long Island Anchor and cancer survivor Carol Silva was also honored with the Empire State Ride Long Island’s inaugural Courage Award at the event.
