Thousands of PG&E customers lose power in Calaveras, Tuolumne counties


Thousands of Pacific Gas and Electric Company customers in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties lost power due to outages on Saturday. PG&E’s service map shows clusters of outages as far north as Sheep Ranch and as far south as Aspen Valley. According to a PG&E spokesperson, 11,356 customers have had their services restored in Tuolumne County and crews are working to bring power back to the remaining 11,869 impacted customers. Power has been restored to the Calaveras County area. The restoration times vary depending on the location. Many of the outages are being caused by weather conditions, PG&E said. Heavy rain and lightning strikes have been detected on Doppler radar according to KCRA 3 meteorologist Dirk Verdoorn. Officials say they are working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to affected customers.
