Techie jumps to death after losses in share market | Chennai News

CHENNAI: A 26-year-old technical analyst at a software company in Thoraipakkam jumped off the 10th floor of his office in the wee hours of Saturday. He died on the spot.

Police identified the victim as E Bhuvanesh, from Rajalakshmi Nagar in Pallikaranai. He took the extreme step as he could not handle mounting debts that he had borrowed from a bank, police said.

Police said that Bhuvanesh worked from 3.30pm to 1.30am. On Friday evening he reached the office and worked through the night. “By midnight, Bhuvanesh and his friend went down to the ground floor for a tea break. After returning to their office, Bhuvanesh left abruptly,” said the police.

After a while, a few employees saw a man leaping off the building. When security rushed to the spot, they found Bhuvanesh lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Taramani Assistant Commissioner of Police Ameer Ahmed and his team reached the spot and retrieved the body and sent it to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Bhuvanesh had taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh from a bank and invested in share market with the help of his friends. “His friends said they lost all his money. Since the loss several months ago, Bhuvanesh did not pay interest and the bank staff had been calling him constantly,” said an investigation officer.

His father Elangovan had told the police that he was ready to mortgage the house and repay the debt, but Bhuvanesh took the extreme decision.
