Soonicorn Ventures gets Sebi nod to launch Rs 250 cr angel fund

Investment firm Soonicorn Ventures on Tuesday said it has received Sebi’s approval to introduce an alternate investment fund with a corpus of Rs 250 crore. The newly approved angel fund will have an additional Rs 250 crore available as a green-shoe option, bringing the total fund capacity to Rs 500 crore, the firm said in a statement.
“Soonicorn Ventures (SV), the Gurugram-based investment technology platform, has received regulatory approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to introduce an Angel Fund, operating as a Category-I Alternate Investment Fund (AIF),” it added.

Stanley Lifestyles files initial papers with Sebi for IPO

Luxury furniture brand Stanley Lifestyles has filed its preliminary papers with capital markets regulator Sebi to raise funds through an initial public offering (IPO). The initial public offering (IPO) comprises fresh issuance of equity shares worth Rs 200 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) component of 91.33 lakh equity shares by the company’s promoters, investor and other shareholders, as per the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) filed on Monday.
The OFS consists of sale of 11.82 lakh shares each by promoters — Sunil Suresh and Shubha Sunil, up to 55.44 lakh equity shares by Oman India Joint Investment Fund II, up to 10 lakh shares by Kiran Bhanu Vuppalapati and up to 2.25 lakh shares by Sridevi Venkata Vuppalapati.

The company may also consider a pre-IPO placement aggregating up to Rs 40 crore and if such placement is completed, the size of the fresh issue will be reduced.

S&P 500, Nasdaq open lower as yields rise, China data weighs

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq opened lower on Tuesday as higher Treasury yields weighed on major growth stocks, while downbeat data on services activity in China stoked worries over demand in the world’s second largest economy.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 5.51 points, or 0.02%, at the open to 34,843.22.

The S&P 500 opened lower by 5.71 points, or 0.13%, at 4,510.06, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 37.27 points, or 0.27%, to 13,994.54 at the opening bell.

MUMBAI – Jio Financial Services will exit Nifty 50 and other indices of the NSE effective from September 7, NSE Indices said in a release.

The decision to exclude the stock was taken as Jio Financial did not hit the price band in the last two trading sessions.

Sebi to have 1-hr trade settlements by end of this fiscal before making it instantaneous

Markets regulator Sebi will introduce one-hour trade settlements by the end of this fiscal, in the run up to making such processes instantaneous, a top official said on Tuesday. Amid concerns raised by certain foreign portfolio investors on the shortening of the settlement cycles citing forex-related worries, the official made it clear that faster settlements are optional and investors can opt out.

Nifty forms small green candle on daily chart. What traders should do on Wednesday

As Nifty ended 46 points higher, a small green candle was formed on the daily chart, that closed above the high of Doji candle of Monday. Analysts see it as a positive indication which signals that the uptrend will likely continue in the short term.

Nifty is currently placed at another resistance of 19600 levels and one may expect this to be taken out soon on the upside. The next upper levels to be watched are around 19800 and immediate support is placed at 19450 levels, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

India bond yields little changed as traders await fresh triggers

Indian government bond yields ended flat on Tuesday as traders awaited fresh triggers, while the 10-year U.S. counterpart rising above the crucial 4.20% mark discouraged investors.

The benchmark 7.26% 2033 bond yield ended at 7.2068% after closing the previous session at 7.2047%.

The yield rose on Monday, which resulted in investors refraining from aggressive buying. The benchmark yield is likely to remain around the 7.20% level after it failed to breach 7.15% on the downside last week.
