Sotheby’s Garners over $4M at Milan Fine Jewels Sale

A diamond ring by Italian maison Sabbadini was the top seller at the most recent Sotheby’s Fine Jewels auction, more than doubling its high estimate.

The piece, featuring a square emerald-shaped, 9.38-carat, F-color, SI1-clarity diamond, brought in EUR 190,500 ($201,753) at the Fine Jewels & Watches: Milan sale last week. The ring’s high estimate was EUR 80,000 ($84,726).

In total, Sotheby’s garnered EUR 4 million ($4.3 million) from the auction, which ran from October 11 to 25.

Here are some of the other top lots from the sale:

***This ring, which features a step-cut Colombian emerald flanked by diamonds, fetched EUR 165,100 ($174,853), more than three times its EUR 50,000 ($52,954) high estimate.***

***A ring by Petochi containing a cushion-shaped, 3.58-carat Burmese ruby between step-cut diamond shoulders sold for EUR 152,400 ($161,131), surpassing its EUR 150,000 ($158,594) upper estimate.***

***Sotheby’s sold this Cusi ring with a cushion-shaped, 3.93-carat Burmese ruby and epaulet-shaped diamonds for EUR 120,650 ($127,562), more than double its maximum price tag of EUR 50,000 ($52,954).***

This convertible jewel with a graduated flower design contains Colombian and Zambian step-cut emeralds and brilliant-cut and navette diamonds. Wearable as a bracelet, necklace or detachable brooch, it sold within estimates at EUR 88,900 ($94,151).
