Rotary Charities Unveils $434,000 In Fall Grants

Rotary Charities of Traverse City has announced the recipients of their fall 2021 grants, which total $434,000 earmarked for six area nonprofits.

The organization reports that “this year we have adapted to our grantmaking to be more responsive to the needs of nonprofits and the people they serve during the uncertainty and shifting conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Recipients include:
 – Hospice of Michigan, $40,000 for NorthStar Navigation and Palliative Care. 
 – Human Nature School, $44,000 for construction of a Timber Frame Barn on their 143-acre Leelanau County property. 
 – Traverse Symphony Orchestra, $25,000 for Community Engagement Expansion.
 – Northwest Michigan Coalition to End Homelessness, $125,000 for the Homeless Youth Initiative. 
 – SEEDS, $75,000 for the Organic Diversion Systems Accelerator. 
 – Housing North, $125,000 for Housing North 2.0. 

Rotary Charities was formed following the 1976 discovery of oil and natural gas reserves on property owned by the Traverse City Noon Rotary Club. The interest income generated from oil and gas royalties is granted to area organizations. To date, Rotary Charities has granted or invested more than $63 million in area organizations.
