Damaged power lines seemed to be the most widespread problem in central Oklahoma

MORNING. WELL WE ACTUALLY SAW SOME OF THE OUTAGES THAT ARE AFFECTING CUSTOMERS DROP A LITTLE BIT. BUT NOW THEY’VE CLIMBED BACK UP TO 51,000 CUSTOMERS WITHOUT POWER HERE ACROSS THE STATE. YOU CAN CAN TAKE A LOOK BEHIND ME AND SEE KIND OF THE REASON FOR THAT. HERE’S A FEW DOWNED POWER LINES THAT ARE SNAPPED IN HALF. FOUR OF THEM REALLY TAKING OUT POWER TO A LOT OF THIS AREA. NOW THIS IS AN ARBY’S IN MIDWEST CITY, BUT IF WE GO OUT A LITTLE FURTHER, ALMOST ALL THE LOCAL BUSINESSES ARE OUT OF POWER NOW. SKY 5 GOT SOME VIDEO RIGHT NEAR WHERE WE’RE AT OF EVEN MORE DOWNED POWER LINES IN A CAR LOT UP AND DOWN MIDWEST BOULEVARD. AND THESE POWER OUTAGES REACH ACROSS THE METRO AND BEYOND AND ALL THE WAY FROM YUKON TO SHAWNEE. NOW, WE’VE SEEN OG CREWS OUT HERE THIS MORNING CHECKING OUT DAMAGE, BUT THEY HAVEN’T BROUGHT OUT CLUES TO CREWS TO REPLACE OR REPAIR YET. BUT WE ACTUALLY JUST SAW A FEW MOORE SHOW UP IN MIDWEST CITY. COLBY, TERRELL, KOCO FIVE NEWS. ALL RIGHT, AND COLBY, THOSE WIDESPREAD OUTAGES, THEY COULDN’T COME HERE AT A WORSE TIME. WE ARE FACING NEAR TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT TODAY. AND YOU DO HAVE SOME SOME RELIEF OPTIONS FOR THOSE WHO DON’T GET THEIR POWER RESTORED IN TIME FOR THAT HEAT TO. YEAH, WELL, OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE UP AND AT IT NOW. WE’VE ALREADY SEEN THEM IN THESE NEIGHBORHOODS NEARBY PICKING UP DEBRIS, WHETHER THAT’S TREES OR ANYTHING IN THE ROAD, REALLY. AND IT’S GOING TO BE A HOT ONE. Storms with destructive winds caused damage across Oklahoma, especially to power lines. In Midwest City, lines were snapped near Reno Avenue and Air Depot Boulevard. Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company crews were on the scene, working to repair the damage. As of Wednesday morning, more than 77,000 Oklahoma customers were without power, including nearly all of the businesses in that area.Damaged power lines seemed to be the most widespread problem in central Oklahoma after winds as high as 85 mph hit the area. Power outages reached across the OKC metro and beyond, from Yukon to Shawnee.
