NV Energy Ends PSOM Event for North Genoa Customers | News


NV Energy has re-energized 30 customers in the north Genoa area due to decreasing winds, increased humidity and rain.

The public safety outage management (PSOM) for the area was announced complete on Wednesday just after 5 p.m.

Anyone who may still be experiencing an outage are encouraged to call 775-834-4444.

Update, December 6:

NV Energy is moving forward with a proactive de-energization for approximately 30 customers in the north Genoa area, based on dangerous weather conditions and high winds.

NV Energy began de-energizing customers at approximately 10 a.m. Additional customers in south Genoa, Clear Creek and Jacks Valley will remain in a warning.

The proactive outage is expected to last until approximately 5 p.m., depending on how weather conditions change. NV Energy will continue to communicate with affected customers as conditions change.

During a proactive outage – also known as a Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) event – NV Energy says it will proactively de-energize power for customers in high-risk zones to help protect the community and environment from wildfires.

Customers have been notified via phone, text, email messages and social media. NV Energy will continue to monitor fire weather conditions and will provide regular updates on the status of the outage.

ORIGINAL STORY: 

NV Energy announced on Tuesday that the South Carson and Genoa areas will experience a proactive safety outage on Wednesday at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. due to rapidly changing weather conditions, including high winds.

During a proactive outage — also known as a Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) event — NV Energy will proactively de-energize power for customers in high-risk zones to help protect the community and environment from wildfires.

This potential proactive outage will impact a small portion of the total number of NV Energy customers in the South Carson and Genoa areas. The proactive outage will be adjusted or cancelled if weather conditions change.

Potentially impacted customers have been notified via phone, text, email messages and social media. NV Energy will continue to monitor fire weather conditions and will provide regular updates on the status of the outage.

The outage timeframe includes the duration of the weather event and an estimate of how long it will take crews to inspect the lines for damage, vegetation or debris to begin safely restoring power.
