NPPD asks Plattsmouth customers to conserve electricity Wednesday evening


The Nebraska Public Power District asked Plattsmouth customers to conserve electricity Wednesday evening, July 5th, due to repairs needed at one of the two substations that serve the Cass County community.The request is voluntary.Around 2,000 NPPD customers lost power Wednesday afternoon due to equipment problems at the Plattsmouth West substation. Crews were able to restore service by rerouting power, but the city now is being served by one instead of two substations.NPPD asked Plattsmouth customers to conserve electricity through Wednesday evening. It anticipated having the substation back on line by early Thursday morning. The utility suggested residents raise the thermostat by a couple of degrees, close blinds, turn-off and unplug non-essential appliances, and avoid using large appliances like washers and dryers.
