Now on the market, what might the future hold for Bubba Lewis’ 15-acre estate?

A.C. “Bubba” Lewis spent four decades transforming his gated property, tucked between Moss Side Lane and Perkins Road, into a sprawling French country estate.

Over the years, five children were raised in the house, several million dollars in renovations were undertaken and countless hours were dedicated to meticulously maintaining the surrounding 14-plus acres—particularly the 40 or so mature southern live oaks that adorn the grounds.

The mansion—a 13,334-square-foot amalgamation of the original main house that Lewis purchased in 1980 and a guesthouse built by Lewis and later connected as his family grew—is a study in character framed by classic upscale finishes and incredible floor-to-ceiling windows.

Lewis and his wife Lee have now put the estate on the market with a $7.9 million asking price.

“It’s been a job in progress for 40 years,” he says while digging through files trying to locate a photograph of how the house looked when he bought it. “Lee and I are downsizing so it’s time for someone else to figure out what’s next for this property.”

Will future buyers turn Lewis’ prime real estate into a neighborhood, keep it as a single-family residence or do something else?
