Net profit rises 36.5% to ₹284 crore; firm declares ₹2 dividend


Storage battery maker Exide Industries on Tuesday reported a 36.5% year-on-year (YoY) rise in net profit at ₹284 crore for the fourth quarter ending March 31, 2024. The company had earned a net profit of ₹208 crore in the year-ago period.

Exide’s revenue from operations rose 13.2% to ₹4,009.4 crore in the fourth quarter, compared to ₹3,543 crore in the year-ago period.

The company’s Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) rose 41% YoY to ₹516.4 crore as against ₹366.6 crore in the corresponding period of last year.

Exide’s margin came in at 12.8% as against 10.3% on a YoY basis.

Exide board recommended a dividend of ₹2 per equity share of the face value of Re 1 for FY24.

The dividend will be subject to the approval of the shareholders at the 77th Annual General Meeting of the company.

Following the earnings announcement, Exide’s scrip on NSE was trading over 4% higher at ₹473 apiece. The stock has risen 46% so far this year.
