Musselshell fire crews kill fires quickly Thursday evening | Billings News

UPDATE @ 8PM – DES says the fires are out and both areas have been turned over to the property owners.

ROUNDUP, Mont. – Musselshell County Department of Emergency Services (MC DES) says that a planned test of their emergency siren system scheduled for this evening instead became a real response to a vehicle fire.

That announcement was then quickly followed by the announcement of a second separate grass fire.

MC DES reported to social media at 5:58 pm that the siren that was heard in Roundup this afternoon was not a drill and was instead in response to a vehicle fire reported on Woody Drive.

Fire crews quickly shifted from their emergency response drill that had been planned between 5:30 and 6 pm Thursday evening, to instead respond to the first fire.

Roughly 12 minutes later, MC DES then reported that a second siren was in response to reports of a grass fire on Jeffrey Mine Road. MC DES dispatched a second crew along with additional reinforcements from Bull Mountain Volunteer Fire Department to that second scene.

NonStop Local will continue to follow this story and provide additional updates as they are available.
