TARRYTOWN — A mudslide related to the weather in the Westchester County area has disrupted service on Metro-North’s Hudson Line and Amtrak, the railway agencies advised Saturday.

Metro-North said service was suspended between ‌Croton-Harmon‌ and ‌further south to Tarrytown‌. The extent of the damage and the estimated time for a return to normal service was not indicated and could not be immediately determined.

Metro-North advisory suggests customers take the Harlem Line, which is running a full schedule.

Hudson Line service is reduced to hourly in both directions between Grand Central Terminal and Tarrytown, and between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie. Very limited bus service is being provided between Tarrytown and Croton-Harmon. There is no service at Philipse Manor, Scarborough, and Ossining.

Amtrak’s advisory is affecting several lines between Albany and New York City “due to excessive debris blocking the tracks by severe weather along the route.” Train 280 was terminated in Albany-Rensselaer, while Train 238 was canceled and others are listed as having service disruptions this afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is likely to continue at least until 2 p.m. in the Tarrytown area with the chance of precipitation at 60 percent. Saturday night’s forecast is for a 30 percent chance of rain before 7 p.m. Winds will be gusty.

The incident prompted a statement from Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office stating that there have been no injuries reported and no one is stranded in impacted areas. “At this point, our top priority is to restore service as quickly as possible and we are deeply grateful to the hard-working MTA personnel and emergency responders who are working to keep commuters, motorists and all New Yorkers safe,” the statement said.

It wasn’t the only casualty of the weather Saturday, or at least the threat of it, as the Lark Street Business Improvement District postponed Art on Lark to next June. On Friday, the organization, which promotes Albany’s Lark Street neighborhood, announced the event’s cancellation due to the rain.

“We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but this weekend looks like it will be a washout. We don’t want our vendors to risk their art work or attendees soaked to the bone,” the group said in a social media post. “We’re postponing Art on Lark until June 2024, when it will return to our newly renovated Lark Street bigger and better than ever.”
