Most Bulgarian stock indices retreat, SOFIX rises

December 28 (SeeNews) – The blue-chip SOFIX index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) grew by 0.15% to 742.09 points on Thursday, as three of the remaining four indices closed lower, bourse data showed.

SOFIX was spurred on by a 1.52% increase in IoT products maker Shelly Group [BUL:SLYG] to 46.70 levs, along with a 1.05% rise in pharmaceuticals producer Sopharma [BUL:SFA] to 5.78 levs.

Shelly Group and Sopharma also buoyed the BGBX40, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse. The index climbed 0.10% to 154.58 points, with the biggest gain posted by venture capital firm Eleven Capital [BUL:11C], which leapt 2.25% to 18.20 levs.

In contrast, the BGTR30, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, closed 0.05% lower at 786.19 points. The index was held back by Bulgarian Real Estate Fund REIT [BUL:BREF], which sank by 4.76% to 2.40 levs, and farming group Agria Group Holding [BUL:AGH], which fell 1.46% to 20.20 levs.

The BGREIT, which tracks seven real estate investment trusts, shed 0.89% to 190.00 points following the loss at Bulgarian Real Estate Fund.

A 5.95% drop in venture capital fund Webit Investment Network [BUL:WIN] to 0.79 levs and a tumble of 3.68% to 1.31 levs in biometric identification security systems developer Biodit [BUL:BDT] restricted the BEAMX. The index, which tracks the ten most highly capitalised growth companies, plunged 1.87% to 100.67 points, marking the biggest decline of the day.

Total turnover on the main market of the Sofia bourse went down to 525,118 levs ($298,398/268,488 euro) on Thursday from 816,000 levs on December 22. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were non-trading days for the BSE.

Sopharma was the top stock by turnover, generating 173,793 levs with 30,068 shares traded.
