Metra service resumes at Ogilvie following earlier disruption due to ‘police

Metra service on the Union Pacific-West, Union Pacific-North and Union Pacific-Northwest lines are resuming with extensive delays following earlier “police activity,” according to Metra.

Earlier on Saturday, all inbound and outbound Metra trains at Ogilvie Transportation Center were halted due to “police activity,” according to Metra.

According to Chicago police, the heavy police and SWAT presence followed reports of a witness observing a shell casing inside the transit center.

Police determined that an unknown individual discharged a weapon at a door inside at some point, leading to a lockdown.

A search of the building was completed with no suspect or further evidence found, according to police.

Officials said that no injuries were reported and no one is in custody.
