MADISON (WKOW) — Madtown Artisans hosted the Madison Mental Health Art Market Saturday to promote financial and physical accessibility for new vendors and members of the Madison mental health community.
The market included jewelry, fiber arts, fine art soaps, baked goods, woodworking, leather works and more. All of the makers have a lived experience with mental health issues and diagnoses.
“We’re promoting, you know, positive community events surrounding mental health instead of all the negative stigmas that we’re used to seeing,” said Kaylin Retzlaff, the co-owner of Madtown Artisans.
Retzlaff said the market is a great way to support small and local businesses. The market is the first of its kind, according to organizers.
