Live news: KKR pays $800mn for stake in Singapore data centre business


China: Property developer Sunac plans to hold a creditors’ meeting on its offshore debt restructuring. Trading in the indebted company’s shares was suspended for a year after it defaulted on liabilities in 2022. Another developer, Country Garden, faces an initial deadline to pay more than $15mn in bond interest.

Australia: Michele Bullock becomes Reserve Bank of Australia governor, succeeding Philip Lowe following her appointment by Treasurer Jim Chalmers in July.

Indonesia: President Joko Widodo opens the National Conference of Alim Ulama — a discussion of major religious matters — hosted by Nahdlatul Ulama, an Islamic mass social movement, in Jakarta. NU chair Yahya Cholil Staquf said 600 clerics would attend.

Economic data: Singapore releases August export figures.

Markets: Japan’s financial markets are closed for Respect for the Aged day, a national holiday. Derivatives markets will remain open in Tokyo and Osaka and normal trading resumes on Tuesday.
