Thiruvananthapuram: K Surendran, state president of BJP, on Saturday slammed Kerala finance minister KN Balagopal saying the state’s financial management is the worst among all Indian states. He suggested that Balagopal should consider stepping down from his position. Surendran’s comments came in response to the finance minister’s accusation that the union government was responsible for worsening the financial situation which affected the Onam festival season.

Surendran placed blame on the state government for issues like delayed salary and pension payments, as well as the alleged lack of availability of subsidised goods in Supplyco. He questioned whether the government was unaware that the Onam festival was approaching.

Surendran said there has been a significant increase in grants provided by the NDA government compared to the UPA government in previous years. He stated that despite having eight union ministers during the UPA tenure, Kerala did not receive substantial support.

Surendran asserted that he would demand a central inquiry into the allegations against the chief minister and his daughter. He questioned the opposition leader’s stance and willingness to demand central agency investigations.
