Jenna Spesard is the host and owner of the YouTube channel Tiny House Giant Journey.

Although she normally makes videos about other people’s tiny home lifestyles, she has revealed how she makes it work on a shoestring budget.

In a video titled ‘Tiny House Monthly Cost, Is Living Small Really Cheaper?’ she shared the economic reality of her tiny home.

“I have very little expenses,” she began.

Jenna paid for her $30,000 tiny house cash and has zero mortgage.

“That’s how I save a lot of money,” the vlogger explained.

Many tiny homeowners do not have a mortgage or have only small monthly payments that are far below the national average.

But every tiny home needs a place to be parked, which is normally the biggest monthly housing expense.

“Parking is going to be different for everybody,” said Jenna.

“Some people have a piece of property that they park on or they park in somebody’s back yard and pay them rent.

“Or if you’re traveling around with your tiny house, you might be paying a campground fee.”

THE WIN-WIN SITUATION

However, Jenna revealed how she stays at an RV park completely for free.

“I have a sweet deal with the company. I do a little bit of a work exchange and I’m able to live without actually paying rent.

“It’s a pretty cool parking spot. It would cost about $400 to $500 a month.”

Jenna recommends trying to negotiate some kind of work exchange with a park owner, calling it a “win-win for everyone involved.”

Before moving into her current spot, she parked her tiny home in someone’s backyard for $500 a month.

Jenna’s only remaining monthly costs are $70 for home insurance, $7 for gas, and $55 for internet.

That puts her total living expenses at just $132 a month.

TURNING TO TINY

Thanks to her frugal living arrangements, Jenna enjoys vacations across the world for three months a year, despite having just a part-time gig.

More and more Americans are turning to tiny homes as an affordable housing solution.

Tiny homes come in all shapes and sizes, from purpose-built structures to cozy A-frame cabins and even converted trucks.

One company offers made-in-USA tiny homes that are ready to go for just $15,000.

And see how a young woman converted a van into her tiny home for jut $10,000.
