Press release

Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 recently donated $1,500 to Montana Food Bank Network Backpack Program of Havre

“Our lodge was pleased to present Montana Food Bank Network BackPack Program of Havre some assistance,” Havre lodge secretary Brandy Kurtz said. “The Backpack food program provides nutritious, non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to children to ensure they get enough food on weekends and holidays to avoid hunger when they can’t depend on school meals. This is for students kindergarten through fifth grade.”

Kurtz said the funds for this project came from an Elks National Foundation Grant.

“We are celebrating 152 years as a fraternal organization in 2020. The Elks National Foundation, in celebration of our 152nd anniversary, offered every lodge across the country the opportunity to apply for these grants for youth, veterans or community-based projects,” Kurtz said.

Havre Lodge No. 1201 has 238 members and is always looking for new members. People can find out more about the local Havre Lodge by calling Kurtz at 390-0091.
