Girl Scouts win Silver Awards

OTTAWA — Ten local Girl Scouts earned Silver Awards for their work with dogs in Putnam County.

Ava Black, Ella Vorst, Abby Recker, Annabelle Haselman, Bridget Niese, Autumn Steffen, Olivia Wahrer, Lilly Wolke, Carly Siefker and Izzy Utendorf all earned their Silver Awards with Troop 20487.

The girl-led project helped raise funds and bring awareness to help Putnam Pet Pals, which works in conjunction with the Putnam County Dog Shelter. They made dog toys, blankets, bandanas and dog treats. It also brought attention to the need to other groups and volunteered at Putnam Pet Pals fundraiser events, including chicken BBQs and the annual quarter bingo event. Funding came from the sales of Girl Scout cookies.

Troop 20487 includes girls from Ottawa, Glandorf and Miller CIty. Troop leaders are Emily Recker and Amy Utendorf.
