Gas main break closes Light Street in downtown Baltimore


Light Street is closed downtown Wednesday afternoon as crews work on a gas main break.Baltimore City fire officials told 11 News that crews were called to the unit block of Light Street for a natural gas rupture involving a 36-inch gas main.The Baltimore City Department of Transportation closed Light Street between Mercer and East Lombard streets.Check traffic map hereBaltimore Gas and Electric told 11 News that a contractor was performing excavation work in the area when it discovered the gas main break.There are no service interruptions and crews have not detected any gas readings inside the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel or the Dunkin’ Donuts, BGE said.No injuries were reported.This report will be updated.
