Garyville Magnet School closed on Monday due to ongoing Marathon Petroleum incident
The decision was made out of an abundance of caution, officials say
St. John the Baptist Parish Public School made the decision to cancel classes on Monday, Aug. 28 at one of its schools because of the ongoing situation at the Marathon Petroleum in Garyville.Officials said it is out of an abundance of caution and the additional measure is for the well-being of the students and staff at Garyville/Mt. Airy Math and Science Magnet School.The school district posted the following message on Facebook for the families affected:
