Corinthia Global Management poaches Barings’ private credit heads


Nomura-backed investment platform Corinthia Global Management has hired a number of top executives from Barings’ private credit team.

According to a Bloomberg report, Ian Fowler and Adam Wheeler, who were co-heads of the private credit team at Barings, have moved into new roles at Corinthia.

Fowler and Wheeler have been succeeded at Barings by Bryan High, who has been named head of global private finance. High was previously head of capital solutions and a co-portfolio manager for capital solutions funds.

Fowler was also president of the publicly traded fund Barings BDC. In this role, he has been succeeded by Matthew Freund.

Mike Freno, chief executive of Barings, said in a statement that “the majority of the team remains, and will work together under the leadership of Bryan High and senior leaders Stuart Mathieson and Tyler Gately to ensure a seamless transition for our clients.”

Corinthia is a private credit platform which operates in Europe, the UK and the US. It is backed by Nomura Holdings, which has been vocal in its wish to further tap the global private credit markets.
