Bosnian stock indices close mixed in trading week ended Jan 26


January 26 (SeeNews) – The share indices of the two bourses in Bosnia and Herzegovina ended mixed on January 26, compared with their values a week earlier, weekly bourse data showed.

On the Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE), the 10-share benchmark SASX-10 equity index fell 0.14% on a weekly basis, to close at 1,031.56 points on Friday. The broader SASX-30 index, which is composed of the 30 most liquid stocks on the SASE, went down 0.47% to finish at 1,896.74 points.

The SASE index tracking investment funds, the BIFX, ended the week at 710.33 points, down 1.01% compared with the end of the previous trading week.

The Islamic stock index SASX-BBI, launched by the SASE and Bosna Bank International (BBI), declined 0.22% to 11,052.03 points.

SASE’s turnover came in at 71,158 marka ($39,538/36,383 euro) this week, down from 221,600 marka last week, as a total of 20,155 shares changed hands in 34 transactions.

Pharmaceuticals producer Bosnalijek [SAJ:BSNLR] was the most traded company this week, with a turnover of 700 marka as its shares fell to 25 marka on Friday from 25.19 marka at the end of the previous trading week.

The SASE is based in the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The BLSE is based in the other entity, the Serb Republic.

The benchmark index of the BLSE, the BIRS, added 0.89% this week to close at 968.53 points on Friday.

BLSE’s total trading turnover rose to 11.5 million marka this week from 277,600 marka last week, as 121 transactions were carried out.

Telekom Srpske [BANJ:TLKM] generated the largest trading turnover, of some 18,488 marka, on the BLSE’s official market this week. The company’s shares closed at 1.18 marka on Friday, unchanged compared with the end of the previous week.
