A boil water advisory was issued for some residents in Lancaster County after a water main break. The main broke late Friday night in Lititz. The main has been repaired, but because there was a lack of positive water pressure, the borough issued a boil water advisory. That was in effect for residents and businesses on East Main Street. The advisory was lifted by the borough at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 15, following consecutive tests of the water. It is no longer necessary to boil water used to make ice, prepare food, wash dishes, etc.The break also damaged the street, causing the road to close.”East Main Street suffered significant damage to the roadway surface and requires coordination with PennDOT for repairs before traffic can safely drive on the road. East Main Street will remain closed from Broad Street to Cedar Street until repairs are made. Currently, there is no estimated time for the roadway to reopen, but it will likely extend into the coming week,” police said in a statement.Due to this inconvenience impacting the community, the Lititz Borough Police Department has bagged the parking meters in the entire downtown as free parking until East Main Street reopens. Road signs are in place and there is still pedestrian access to businesses along the block.
