Boil water advisory for Lower Ninth Ward, Holy Cross, Bywater


I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT. I THOUGHT I THOUGHT I DID I HEAR HIM RIGHT THAT THAT WE’RE ON A SECOND BOIL WATER ADVISORY. SO IN ONE WEEK, IN ONE WEEK FOR THE SECOND TIME IN ONE WEEK, HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES IN THE LOWER NINTH WARD, THE HOLY CROSS AND BYWATER ARE BEING ASKED TO BOIL THEIR WATER. YEAH. SO ON YOUR SCREEN THERE IS A MAP. NOW IT SHOWS YOU THOSE SPECIFIC NEIGHBORHOODS THAT WERE AFFECTED. YES, THAT BOIL WATER ADVISORY IS STILL IN EFFECT AS WATER SAMPLES RIGHT NOW ARE BEING TESTED. WE HAVE THESE CASES HERE. LEADERS SAY THOSE OF YOU IMPACTED WILL WANT TO BOIL YOUR WATER OR USE BOTTLED WATER TO DRINK, COOK OR EVEN BRUSH YOUR TEETH. IT’S BEEN A LITTLE CRAZY BECAUSE, LIKE I SAID, I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IF

New Orleans S&WB issues boil water advisory for Lower Ninth Ward, Bywater, Holy Cross neighborhoods

Another boil water advisory has been issued Friday for the Lower Ninth Ward, Holy Cross, and Bywater neighborhoods. The boil water advisory is in effect for the entire Lower Ninth Ward, the area bounded by Montegut Street, The Intercoastal Waterway, Florida Avenue and the Mississippi River.A map of the area under the advisory can be found here. The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board issued the boil water advisory after crews did a test closure so they could repair a 48-inch water main break. Attempts to work on this same water main caused a boil water advisory for these areas last weekend. The S&WB said repairs still need to be made at a later date when crews can conduct a better water closure. The boil water advisory will be lifted after water samples are tested and cleared by the Louisiana Department of Health.
