Authorities Dismantle Alleged Butane Honey Oil Laboratory in Hemet
Several people were arrested on suspicion of weapon and narcotic sales after a butane honey oil laboratory was discovered in Hemet, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.
Personnel with a gang task force and the Southwest Cities SWAT team executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Battersea Road around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. During the search, authorities found a butane honey oil laboratory that appeared to be functioning, the department said.
The Hemet Fire Department’s Hazardous Material Team along with the Riverside County Department of Health Hazmat Team responded to the scene. The sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team was also requested and assisted in the dismantling of the laboratory and the removal of hazardous materials.
After the property was deemed safe, evidence of narcotic and weapon sales was also found, authorities said. An unknown number of suspects were arrested without incident, and were later taken to Riverside County jail.
A small portion of Battersea Road was closed for several hours during the operation.
No additional information was immediately available.
