A $6 million ‘mystery’ mansion tests the Rochester market – Post Bulletin

ROCHESTER — With five acres in southwest Rochester, the Tasneem home shares luxury at its finest.

In the “high-end neighborhood” just 3 miles from the historic Mayowood home, the “Tasneem palace” includes a stone-crafted exterior, a pool with a waterfall and slide, a heated driveway and heated interior floors, and an elevator, said Realtor Hanan Absah with Coldwell Banker Realty.

She credits the architect John McMillan for the thoughtfully-laid details, luxury feel and “nice flow.” One detail, though, is easy to overlook: the Tasneem name, which in Arabic means fountain in heaven, etched in gold on the stone entrance.

“The minute you walk in you can see the high-end quality. There’s no cut corners,” Absah said of the home built in 2012 at 5790 Jasmine Lane SW.

With 10,256 square feet of home, Absah said the high-end appliances and smart-controlled elements add to the luxury of the four-parcel lot. An addition brings the home to 11,000 square feet with a living room, bedroom and bathroom. The garage space includes 1,836 square feet with up to six car spaces.

The seven-bedroom and 10-bathroom home is listed at $6 million. Other neighborhood properties range an estimated $1,310,000 to $2,148,431 in value with the next largest square footage listed at 8,180, according to Realtor.com. Throughout Rochester, five other properties are listed on the market with more than 5,000 square feet. At the new subdivision

Preserve of Mayowood

under construction near the intersection of Abigail Lane Southwest and Mayowood Road, the largest home layout is planned at 4,424 square feet.

“It’s always been a mystery, no one (knew) about this house before, right,” Absah said. “It’s a big house. I believe not many houses in Rochester they exceed the 10,000 square feet, you know there are really few of them and this is one of them and very unique.”

Of the three levels in the home, Absah said the basement is “like a small house inside the house that’s specially for the maids.” The space includes bedroom, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom and living room. A dumbwaiter elevator also transports food between the floors.

“The location, the lot, the privacy, the mature trees, it all add to it,” Absah described of the home along a private road. The sellers also planted apple trees and have trails on their acreage of land, which spans to a second property on 60th Avenue Southwest with 26.25 acres. The land is listed at $2 million.

While Rochester has yet to boast many $6 million homes on the market, Absah said the sellers were “brave enough” to try the market. Of the million-dollar houses on the market, the new construction houses are listed from $1,050,000 to $1,899,000. Local Realtor Michelle Kalina also

introduced the Sotheby’s International Realty brand,

partnered with the high-end Sotheby’s Auction House, to Rochester in 2021.

“I think Rochester is ready to test the market with the high-end (houses), I mean we already have, but like more expensive houses,” Absah said. “And with

Mayo investing five billion dollars

now, it’s going to be very interesting and … change in the real estate market as well.

“Hopefully, once we sell this one, I think other people will be encouraged to go ahead and list their (high-end) home,” Absah said. “Of course, it’s going to be a unique buyer to come and it’s going to take time, but we’re waiting for the right buyer.”
