North Augusta likely to get its first Take 5 Oil Change | North Augusta Area
Take 5 Oil Change looks likely for the corner of Atomic and East Martintown roads in North Augusta.
North Augusta Planning Commission on June 19 swiftly recommended that City Council re-zone the quarter acre at 10139 Atomic Road from residential to commercial with the understanding that WSM Ventures would develop the quick service oil change there.
North Augusta planning director Tommy Paradise said the property has been “vacant for years.” Take 5 has one location in Aiken and several in Augusta. This would be the first in North Augusta.
The plan is for the 1,600-square-foot oil change to go up on the corner property with access onto East Martintown; the adjacent parcel – that considered for zoning this week – would, for the most part, be relegated to parking and a detention pond while also providing a second access onto Atomic Road.
David Berry, president of WSM Ventures and Take 5 franchisee, said this first North Augusta location would employ eight to 10 people. Its impact on neighborhood residents, he said, should be minimal.
