“These classic homes are made of quality materials; they withstand time,” she said. “It’s a tight community, a very tight community.”

Austin Black II, an associate broker with @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, said Woodbridge’s proximity to downtown and its mix of housing stock make it desirable for residents. He recently had a client who bid on a house on the street, then ended up buying a townhouse.

“Homes rarely go on the market in Woodbridge,” he said. “People don’t move there often.”

The area has long been stable regardless of what was happening elsewhere in the city, Black said, and people who live there love it.

O’Brien said everyone knows everyone in the neighborhood. She called neighbors “forever friends.”

O’Brien said that when the sun comes into the orange-walled dining room, it’s almost like the home is aglow.
